About Us
Play Through Learning

Philosophy
Ashworth Children’s Centre Inc. offers a safe, inclusive, accessible and affordable childcare program for children ages 3 months to 12 years old. We strive to provide a warm, caring, homelike atmosphere. We believe in offering the children choices which allow room for growth within a stimulating environment. These choices allow children freedom within set limits. We encourage gender neutral, non-competitive, creative programming. We believe in mutual respect and each child is treated as a respected individual.
At Ashworth Children’s Centre Inc. we value outdoor play, and all the learning it provides. It is an opportunity to explore various activities through the change of seasons, providing moments for discovery and exploration, while connecting to the land. The benefits of outdoor play support overall development in Gross Motor, Risky Play, Imaginative Play, and Connection and Collaboration through social interaction. The fresh air and movement is important for children’s physical health, strengthening their immune system as they grow, while supporting their mental well-being. The outdoor environment gives the children the space they need to move and burn their endless energy, while also building strength and resilience.
Our Values
Respect
We pledge to respect our children, parents, staff, and the environment.
Connection
We believe in building strong bonds with children, parents, and the community.
Creativity
We encourage emergent play to help your child learn and grow their identity.
Our Staff
Ashworth Children's Centre Inc. is licensed through Manitoba Early Learning and Childcare and follows the best practices criteria for staffing. 1/2 the staff in a school age program and 2/3 of staff in the other programs meet the requirements of an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) 2/3 meaning they have at least 2 years of post secondary education for caring for children from a facility recognized by the province of Manitoba. The rest of the staffing compliment is comprised of Childcare Assistants (CCAs) and volunteers. We all work together to provide the best program we can for the children and families we serve.
All staff are required to have up to date criminal and child abuse checks, first aid and CPR, Commit to Kids (sexual abuse prevention), and Circle of Security (relationship based caregiving) training. We value life long learning and support staff with additional professional development opportunities throughout the year. The center closes for 2 days a year to provide opportunities for staff professional development.
Our center also has a board of directors, made of parent volunteers. This means parents have a say in the program.
